Ddcs: a Multiphase Database Damage Confinement Prototype System

چکیده
Damage confinement is a critical aspect of database survivability. Damaged data items of a database should not be allowed to access until they are repaired. Traditional database damage confinement is one phase, that is, a damaged data item is confined only after it is identified as corrupted, and onephase damage confinement has a serious problem, that is, during damage assessment serious damage spreading can be caused. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a multiphase database damage confinement system, called DDCS. The damage confinement process of DDCS has one confining phase, which instantly confines the damage that might have been caused by the intrusion(s) as soon as the intrusion(s) are detected, and one or more later on unconfining phases to unconfine the data items that are mistakenly confined during the confining phase and the items that are repaired. In this way, DDCS ensures no damage spreading during damage assessment. DDCS can confine the damage caused by multiple malicious transactions in a concurrent manner. DDCS is built on top of a commercial database server. DDCS is transparent to end users, and the performance penalty of DDCS is reasonable.

Multi-Phase Damage Confinement in Database Systems for Intrusion Tolerance
Preventive measures sometimes fail to defect malicious attacks. With cyber attacks on data-intensive applications becoming an ever more serious threat, intrusion tolerant database systems are a significant concern. Intrusion detectors are a key component of an intrusion tolerant database system. However, a relatively long detection latency is usually unavoidable for detection accuracy, especial...
متن کاملMultiphase Damage Containment in Self-Healing Database Systems
Damage containment is an important technique for building self-healing database systems that can survive malicious attacks or operational mistakes. However, existing damage containment techniques are reactive and very limited in containing damage due to a relatively long detection latency. In this paper, we present an innovative multiphase damage containment approach which has one containing ph...
متن کاملMGL2+ Dermal Dendritic Cells Are Sufficient to Initiate Contact Hypersensitivity In Vivo
BACKGROUND Dendritic cells (DCs) are the most potent antigen-presenting cells in the mammalian immune system. In the skin, epidermal Langerhans cells (LCs) and dermal dendritic cells (DDCs) survey for invasive pathogens and present antigens to T cells after migration to the cutaneous lymph nodes (LNs). So far, functional and phenotypic differences between these two DC subsets remain unclear due...

The specific objective of this paper is to develop a fully implicit compositional simulator for modeling asphaltene deposition during natural depletion. In this study, a mathematical model for asphaltene deposition modeling is presented followed by the solution approach using the fully implicit scheme. A thermodynamic model for asphaltene precipitation and the numerical methods for performing f...
متن کاملMyeloid decidual dendritic cells and immunoregulation of pregnancy: defective responsiveness to Coxiella burnetii and Brucella abortus
Dendritic cells (DCs) are a component of the placental immune system, but their role in pregnancy is still poorly understood. Decidual DCs (dDCs) were selected from at-term pregnancy on the basis of CD14 and CD11c expression. A phenotypic analysis revealed that dDCs are characterized by the expression of monocyte-derived DC (moDCs) markers and specific markers such as HLA-G and its ligand ILT4....
